Are You a Worrier?

Everyone can use encouragement from time to time. Wholesome, honest, biblical encouragement. Before we get to the Bible verses, I have a question for you:

Are you a worrier?

I worry about a lot of things because I overthink them. My work, my home, my relationships. My overthinking! That’s why I’m so grateful for how God sees me – not for who I am, but who I can become.

An encourager, not a worrier.

Calculating Without God

The dictionary defines worry as “anxious or troubled over actual or potential problems.” When we worry, we doubt God’s ability to work in our lives – and trust in our inability instead.

The great Scottish evangelist Oswald Chambers called this “calculating without God.” Are YOU calculating without Him?

All our fret and worry is caused by calculating without God. – Oswald Chambers

God doesn’t want you to worry about daily concerns, or even the serious life issues. He doesn’t want you to overthink or try to figure things out on your own (Proverbs 3:5).

God wants you to trust Him. That’s it. He knows what you need for each day of your life. And He will provide for your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

Bible Verses for the New Year

One of my goals for the new year is to drop “worry” from my vocabulary, heart, and mind. What about you? Are you ready to replace worry with hope?

Let’s ring in the year by meditating on the following Bible verses. This kind of meditation will help us build a better relationship with God and a deeper dependence on Him.
