Are you feeling out of sorts? Out of place? Out of control? Does your life seem out of order? Your responsibilities, overwhelming? Here are ten Bible verses to help you find peace.
But first, please know that you’re not alone. I’ve been there, too. That place where life catches up with you and everything seems like an uphill struggle. Like something is tugging on your soul, mind, spirit.
It hit me again on Wednesday, that “out of sorts” feeling. As I sat in the Publix parking lot, alone in my car, I took a couple of deep breaths. Inhale, exhale. Again. Sigh.
Last week, life spiraled out of control. My responsibilities at home felt overwhelming, and my relationship with Mitch seemed detached. I felt worried, stressed, and irritable. I didn’t feel like myself.
Experience told me, “This, too, shall pass.” But it’s common to feel powerless in the moment, when your life path hits a roadblock, detour, or uphill climb. As you scramble for strength and stability, things can seem more hopeless still.
In times like that, it’s important to seek God through Scripture.

10 Bible Verses to Help You Find Peace
Are you facing setbacks and struggles at home or work? Do you feel disconnected from your spouse? Has your life spiraled out of control?
Step away from your busyness and spend time with God. Trust Him as you seek an escape from anxiety and stress. Even if you feel trapped in a situation you can’t control, you can experience His peace.
Here are ten Bible verses to help you find peace when you’re feeling out of sorts. Meditate on God’s Word as you reach for stability.
1. God Never Changes
Malachi 3:6 – “For I, the Lord, do not change.”
People change. Circumstances change. Life is all about change. But God, and His Word, never changes. Memorize this short verse and let it give you peace when you feel out of sorts, out of place, or out of control.
2. Jesus Never Changes
Hebrews 13:8 – “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
What a comforting verse to read when everything is shifting around you. Jesus is always the same, and He is always with you – ready to encourage and empower you.
3. Peace is a Gift From God
James 1:17 – “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.”
Peace is a gift from God. He is ready and willing to offer this gift when you feel anxious, disconnected, or overwhelmed. All you have to do is ask.
4. Peace in Times of Trouble
John 16:33 – “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
Becoming a Christian does not guarantee an easy life. But God will give you peace when you set aside anxiety and trust Him to work out His will.
Remember, God is in control.
5. Peace Amid Fear and Anxiety
John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”
Everyone has a “troubled spirit” at times. Jesus did. But He wants us to acknowledge the reality of suffering while trusting God to make good on His promises.
6. Peace When You Feel Weary
Psalm 29:11 – “The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.”
In this verse, strength refers to perseverance. When life has you feeling weary, maintain your faith in God. Trust His power rather than your own.
7. Peace and Joy in Believing
Romans 15:13 – “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
God is a God of hope – the only lasting source of hope for meaning in this life and the one beyond death. As you trust in God, your faith will bring joy and peace to your heart.
8. Peace, Refuge, and Safety
Psalm 61:2-3 – “From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a refuge for me, a tower of strength against the enemy.”
Cry out to God when you feel overwhelmed. He will protect you from the people who oppose you, as well as from Satan’s attacks on your sense of peace.
9. Peace in Every Circumstance
2 Thessalonians 3:16 – “Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all.”
God is the source of peace. Paul prayed for God’s peace to be with all believers in every situation. A peaceful church experiences His joy as well as His peace.
10. Perfect and Lasting Peace
Philippians 4:7 – “And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
When you trust the Lord during times of trouble, you experience the “peace of God.” He is always ready to grant His perfect peace – a peace beyond our understanding. The kind that lasts forever.
Conclusion
Everyone feels out of sorts, from time to time. Anxious, worried, stressed, moody, or not themselves. When life spirals out of control, step away from the busyness and seek God through His Word. These Bible verses will help you find peace. ◻️
