Most people never think to look there, but mold can build up inside and sit unnoticed, causing strange odors and even posing a health risk. Every now and then, pop the lid off and take a peek. If you see any slimy buildup or black spots, scrub it down with a toilet-safe cleaner or a mix of white vinegar and baking soda. It’s a quick but important job, and you can do it just once a few months.
