Trick or Truth? Halloween Gospel Tracts Are Easy and Fun

Halloween is challenging for Christians. Some reject the holiday due to its pagan roots. Others engage in alternative fall activities. They celebrate the holiday’s fun traditions while avoiding its ghoulish elements.

How do YOU approach Halloween? Have you considered its ministry potential? Halloween is a great opportunity to share God’s love with your neighbors.

The National Retail Federation said Halloween participation will return to pre-pandemic levels. That means 69 percent of American families will celebrate this year – up from 58 percent in 2020.

You’ll have a chance to witness to dozens of families – on your own doorstop, with the flip of a light switch. So grab some Halloween gospel tracts, and be ready to share the good news of Jesus.

Halloween Evangelism

Many churches host community outreach events on Halloween. They might host a fall festival with food, games, and costume parades. Trunk-or-Treat (Halloween tailgating) is also common, along with bounce houses and more.

As a Christian, you can organize your own community outreach event. Halloween gospel tracts are a good way to reach your neighbors with the good news of Christ. These small pamphlets use clear and simple terms to explain the gospel.

Charles Spurgeon, the great theologian, used tracts to share the gospel. “There is a real service of Christ in the distribution of the gospel in its printed form,” he said. “How many thousands have [gone to heaven] upon the wings of these tracts, none can tell.”

Halloween Gospel Tracts

It’s so easy to drop a gospel tract into a trick-or-treat bag, along with candy and other goodies. Not everyone will read it, of course. But the Bible says God’s Word will not return void, without accomplishing His desires (Isaiah 55:11).

Gospel tracts have the potential to reach entire families for Christ.

You can find Halloween gospel tracts online, at church, and in bookstores. They don’t cost much, and they’re easy for children to read and understand. Many include coloring pages, puzzles, and games that are fun for kids.

Here’s an example of the type of message you’ll find in a Halloween gospel tract. The message is a paraphrase of a tract from Good News Publishing. All scripture references come from the New American Standard Bible.

Don’t Be Tricked …

People say many things about God, and what they say is not always true. If you’re not careful, the lies can trick you. Here are three wrong things people say about God (the tricks) followed by what the Bible says (the truth).

πŸŽƒ TRICK – People say, “Wait until you’re older to think about God.” But Jesus didn’t think you should wait:

“Let the children alone and do not hinder them from coming to Me, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)

πŸŽƒ TRICK – People say, “There are many ways to God.” But the Bible says there’s only ONE way to God:

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6)

πŸŽƒ TRICK – People say, “Jesus is boring” or “Christians don’t have fun.” But boredom is not what Jesus had in mind for his followers. “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly,” He said. (John 10:10)

… Follow the Truth

Don’t let what people say about God trick you. Allow Him to speak for Himself. The Bible shows us God shares the truth, not tricks. Here are some truths about God.

✝️ TRUTH – God loves you. Have you seen “3:16” on shirts, calendars or ball park signs and wondered what it meant? It’s a reference to John 3:16, an important Bible verse: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

✝️ TRUTH – Everyone sins. That is, everyone thinks, says, or does bad things at times. The Bible says, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

Disobedience, lies, selfishness – ALL sins separate us from God. But there is hope. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

✝️ TRUTH – Jesus died for our sins. He took the punishment we deserve and rescued us from evil according to God’s will. (Galatians 4:1)

God sent His eternal Son, Jesus, to earth – to become a man, live a perfect life, die on the cross, and rise again. Jesus paid the price for our sins, and God accepted it.

✝️ TRUTH – Christians have an eternal home in heaven. People who believe in Jesus receive God’s forgiveness. We also become part of His family forever. Jesus said, “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish.” (John 10:28)

The Best Halloween Treat

Anyone can receive God’s gift of forgiveness and eternal life. It’s the best Halloween treat anyone can receive! If YOU want this gift, talk to God about it. We call this prayer. Use your own words, or say something like this:

Dear God, I believe Jesus is your Son. I admit that I have sinned against you and other people by what I have thought, said, or done. I believe Jesus died for me to take the punishment I deserve. I also believe He rose again to give me new life. Thank you for forgiving me and making me part of your family. Help me to live a life that pleases you. Amen.

If you said this prayer and accepted God’s gift of forgiveness, you made the best decision of your life. Not only do you have a forever home in heaven, but you also have a brand new life on earth (2 Corinthians 5:17). Leave a comment or contact me so I can welcome you into the family!
