Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus and the new life He gives us when we put our faith in Him. As we make our Easter preparations this year, let’s also prepare our hearts to reflect on the cross

When we trust Jesus Christ for salvation, He changes our hearts and gives us a brand new life (2 Corinthians 5:17). Our Daily Bread Ministries has free and low cost resources to help us celebrate this new life. And to help spread the joy to others.

In this post, I’ll share seven awesome ways to prepare your heart for Easter. But before we get to the list, let me tell you about Our Daily Bread Ministries.

What is Our Daily Bread Ministries?

Our Daily Bread Ministries is a nonprofit, nondenominational organization in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It’s best known for the devotional booklet Our Daily Bread.

7 Awesome Ways to Prepare Your Heart for Easter

I started reading these devotionals as a kid growing up in the 1970s. The ministry was then known as Radio Bible Class.

Radio Bible Class later became RBC Ministries to reflect its vast array of resources. Besides the devotional, the ministry produced books, music, videos, and more.

In 2015, the ministry rebranded itself as Our Daily Bread Ministries. This new name allows it to better communicate its identity.

Now that you know a little about the organization, let’s get ready for reflection. Here are seven ways to prepare your heart for Easter with resources from Our Daily Bread.

7 Ways to Get Ready for Easter

Despite the name changes, Our Daily Bread Ministries has kept the same focus over the years – to share the message of God’s love around the world. Here are seven ways to prepare your heart for Easter and share the gospel with others.

1. Share the Hope of Jesus

Jesus said, “I came that [you] may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). This Easter, as you celebrate YOUR new life, share the hope of Jesus with your family, friend, or neighbor.

A New Life, the Easter edition of Our Daily Bread, makes it easy to share the gospel. Our Daily Bread will send you copies of the booklet for a gift to the ministry. But hurry! There’s a limited supply this time of year.

2. Renew Your Walk With God

Want a fresh relationship with God? Read The Love of God by Oswald Chambers, a twentieth century Scottish evangelist. Chambers is best known for his classic devotional book My Utmost for His Highest.

For a paperback copy of The Love of God, visit Our Daily Bread Publishing. If you would like a hardcover or Kindle edition, you can buy the book on Amazon.

3. Download Easter Graphics

As a Christian blogger, it was thrilling to find the Easter graphics kit from Our Daily Bread. What’s more, it’s FREE! What a great way to share the hope of Jesus with your social networks.

The Easter kit is a ZIP file of email, screen, and social media graphics with a New Life theme. It contains print-ready images to use for your church projects or internet outreach. Check it out.

4. Celebrate Easter with Music

Prepare your heart for Easter by listening to Easter music. Classical Praise: Easter is a beautiful recording by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

If you like symphony music, you’ll love this offer from Discovery House Publishers. I have the CD in my personal music collection and listen to it throughout the year. But if you prefer to stream your music, Amazon sells the digital version.

5. Read Easter Devotions

Get ready for Easter with a FREE 10-day eading plan from Our Daily Bread Ministries. The first entry arrived in my inbox this morning. Take a minute to sign up for the plan right now. It will remind you WHO Jesus is.

Blessings of the Cross is a nice supplement to the Our Daily Bread resource. This FREE devotional is a gift from FaithGateway, an online community of Christian authors and readers.

6. Study the Biblical Narrative

Did Jesus really die on the cross and come back to life? Our Daily Bread admits that it’s hard to comprehend. Yet, “the gospel message is not complete without the brutal sacrifice and beautiful resurrection of Jesus.”

A Rumor of Hope, by Ray Stedman, is another FREE resource from Our Daily Bread Ministries. Part of the Discovery Series, it’s available in print and digital formats.

📢 UPDATE – This book is no longer available from Our Daily Bread, but you can buy the Kindle edition on Amazon.

7. Follow the Path of Jesus

Behind the Easter Story is a documentary from Day of Discovery. It provides a look at Jesus’ journey through Jerusalem on the days leading to His crucifixion.

Using a limestone scale model of the city, Mart DeHaan and Jimmy DeYoung retrace His footsteps. From His entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday … to His glorious resurrection on Easter morning.

Wrapping It Up

There you have it: seven awesome ways to prepare your heart for Easter. With some bonus tools, to boot. Share the hope of Christ this Easter with Our Daily Bread. And celebrate the new life He gives you when you put your faith in Him. ◻️
