Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, as the song goes. But we can get so caught up in the holiday experience that we lose sight of the true reason for celebration.
Let’s do things different this year. Let’s celebrate December 25 as Share the Bible Day. It’s a great way to remind the world – or our little corner of it – what Christmas is all about.

Global Share the Bible Day
YouVersion is a digital Bible platform that encourages people to seek God every day. Twelve years ago, they introduced a new holiday tradition: Global Share the Bible Day.
All day on December 25, the YouVersion community shared the Word of God with family and friends. They did so through online communications and word of mouth. Twitter tweets and Facebook updates. Blog posts. Phone calls. Dinner table conversations.
Today, many in the YouVersion community still practice this tradition. If YOU want to share God’s Word on Christmas but don’t know where to start, here are some ideas.
A Day to Share God’s Word
Share the Bible Day is a good way to get people talking about Jesus on Christmas. Christians know He is “the reason for the season,” but sometimes we don’t know how to share this with others.
This Christmas, make it your mission to tell someone about the Bible. Start by sharing what you love about God and His Word. Here are some ideas to get you started.
WHAT Can You Share?
- Your faith journey – What has God done in your life?
- Your favorite Bible verse – What does it mean to you?
- The Christmas story – What is your favorite part?
- The YouVersion Bible – How you can get the free app.
HOW Can You Share?
- Post a tweet with the hashtag #Bible
- Update your Facebook status
- Change your website’s home page
- Comment on a blog post
- Send an email or e-card
- Make a telephone call
- Send a text message
- Sit and visit with someone
Spread the Word
This Christmas, let’s point as many people as we can to the Bible, the greatest love story ever written. The story of God’s love for us (John 3:16). Let’s remind the world of His “indescribable gift” (2 Corinthians 9:15).
Talk to your circle of influence – family, friends, neighbors – about Share the Bible Day. Reach out to your social networks, too. Speak from the heart, and tell them why God’s Word is special to you. Pray with them.
And may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace this holiday season, as you trust in Him (Romans 15:13). Merry Christmas! ◻️
