There are many good Bible verses to teach children around Valentine’s Day. God is love! So it’s the perfect time to teach kids about God’s love for us – and how He wants us to show love to others.
Scripture memory is one way to do that.
The Bible reminds us to write God’s Word on our hearts (Proverbs 4:20-23). There’s no better way to do that than to memorize Scripture. And it’s never too late (or early) to start.

Scripture Memory for Children
There are many reasons why kids should memorize Scripture. Here are three compelling ones: (1) to know Jesus, (2) to fight sin, and (3) to glorify God.
Memorization is a head exercise for kids. But that head knowledge becomes heart knowledge when they begin to understand the Bible.
What’s the best Bible to memorize Scripture? Any one that’s a translation – NOT a paraphrase. A paraphrase restates Bible verses in an amplified form to clarify the text. By doing that, it adds opinion to the mix.
Growing up, I memorized verses from King James (KJV). I still love it – and the New King James Version (NKJV) – for its eloquence and beauty. Today, the New American Standard Bible (NASB) is my preference.
