Word of Promise Audio Bible: Experience Scripture in a Whole New Way

There is something special about hearing the Bible read aloud. A good audio Bible immerses you in God’s Word. Take The Word of Promise, for example. This quality audio Bible helps you experience Scripture in a whole new way.

The Word of Promise is a multi-voice dramatization of the New King James Version (NKJV). Produced by Carl Amari, it features 600+ actors — plus a lovely musical score by Stefano Mainetti.

This unique audio Bible puts you right there with Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. What’s more, you can have this experience any time, anywhere — in your car, at the gym, at home with your family.

Let’s take a closer look at this dramatized audio Bible.

The Word of Promise Bible

There are many good audio Bibles out there, but The Word of Promise is different. It uses dramatic dialog, music, and sound to help you imagine the various biblical characters, their surroundings, and their stories.

This action-packed production is the creation of Carl Amari, an American actor, film maker, and radio host. Amari founded Falcon Picture Group (FPG) in 2002. The company produces family-friendly media distributed through retail, mail order, and direct marketing.

FPG is best known for television and radio dramas — mysteries, science fiction, and more. So why did Amari choose to produce an audio Bible?

In an interview with The Christian Post, he shared two main reasons for this project: family time and God’s Word.

First, Amari wanted to help families spend more time together. Think of the Golden Age of Radio, when families gathered around the radio to listen to news, music, and audio dramas.

Second, he wanted to help listeners gain a better understanding of God’s Word. Single-reader Bibles are good resources, but they often lack passion and sound quality.

Dramatic performances, on the other hand, are powerful and engaging. Yet, a dramatized audio Bible does much more than entertain you. It can really feed your spirit.

The Word of Promise makes the Bible come alive!

I’ve listened to this audio at my desk, but you can listen anywhere — as you drive your car, for example. Or clean the house. Or take a walk through the neighborhood. The Word of Promise is great to listen to any time, any place.

The Word of Promise Cast

One of the biggest appeals of this audio Bible is the world-class cast. The Word of Promise features an ensemble group of actors, including Jim Caviezel as Jesus. His performance is a reprisal, of sorts, of his role as Jesus in The Passion of the Christ.

Besides Caviezel, hundreds of actors worked on this project. Jason Alexander, Joan Allen, Richard Dreyfuss, Louis Gossett. Stacy Keach, Malcolm McDowell, Gary Sinise, Marisa Tomei. Max von Sydow. And they are just some of the headliners.

JoBe Cerny, a well-known American voice artist, directed their performances. And Raymond Arroyo served as a co-producer with Amari. You may know Arroyo from his appearances on The Ingraham Angle and other Fox News programs.

The Word of Promise Awards

It’s important to note that The Word of Promise is not a new production. It’s been around for at least 15 years. But, in my view, it’s still the best audio Bible on the market.

The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) named it the 2008 Christian Book of the Year. It earned other accolades, too, including an Audie Award.

The Audie is an annual award the recognizes outstanding audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment. The audio industry likens it to the Academy Award for films.

Even today, The Word of Promise remains a top-selling and highly esteemed audio Bible. Its faithful rendering of the NKJV Bible immerses you in “the dramatic reality of Scripture.”

Listen to the Bible for Free

The Word of Promise is a pricey boxed set for some budgets. Thankfully, there are more affordable — and even FREE options — out there. There’s also a trial offer you should know about.

I discovered The Word of Promise in 2010, when The Christian Post offered free online access to this Bible. That was years ago, however, and that free offer has expired. But a free digital app gives you free access to the dramatized Gospel of John.

This app is available from Amazon or your mobile app store (for example, Google Play and Apple App Store). And when you’re ready for more, you can buy the complete audio Bible inside the app.

Not ready to buy yet? Bible Gateway is a good source for free audio Bibles online. Their extensive Bible collection includes multi-voice and single-reader Bibles.

There are two ways to experience Scripture on Bible Gateway. Download the mobile app or visit the audio Bible page. Then choose a specific Bible from the drop-down menu.

Conclusion

There you have it — a little overview and background on The Word of Promise. If you’re ready to experience Scripture in a new and exciting way, I encourage you to listen to this audio Bible. It’s an excellent way to connect with God and feed your spirit with His Word.

Enjoy this holiday season, and happy listening! ◻️
