Americans celebrate Independence Day on July 4. This patriotic holiday is a symbol of freedom, liberty, and the birth of a nation. It is also a reminder of the sacrifices made by past generations.
The Bible talks a lot about the freedom that comes from God, no matter where His people call home. As we celebrate America this weekend, let’s also reflect on the freedom we have in Christ.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed! Today, I’ll share 16 Bible verses about freedom and how you are set free in Christ.

Bible Verses About Freedom
We celebrate all kinds of freedom on Independence Day. But our REAL freedom came at the expense of God’s Son (John 3:16). We are free because of Jesus Christ, who died for all who would believe in Him.
The concept of freedom appears throughout the Bible. Here are 16 verses about freedom and what it means for us as believers. Because of Jesus – his life, death, and resurrection – we can enjoy the following freedoms on earth:
1. Freedom From Guilt
Romans 8:1 – “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
2. Freedom From Shame
Romans 10:11 – “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.”
3. Freedom From Sin
Romans 6:14 – “For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
4. Freedom From Legalism
Galatians 5:1 – “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.”
5. Freedom From Wrath
1 Thessalonians 5:9 – “For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
